It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sergeant Alan C. Breen, U.S. Army (Ret.), who passed away at the age of 54 due to heart failure on Thursday, April 9, 2026. His loss is a devastating tragedy to all who knew and loved him.
Alan “Brian” was born on June 18, 1971 in Concord, New Hampshire to the late Stephen and Pamela (Grinnell) Breen. He graduated from Enfield High School, Class of 1990, where he excelled in hockey; playing for 19 years and traveling extensively around the United States. After high school, Sergeant Breen, dedicated 21 years of honorable service to the United States Army, completing 4 deployments during his career. He served with courage, integrity and unwavering commitment to his country.
Beyond his military service, Alan was a loving and devoted husband, caring brother, cherished son, proud stepfather and loyal friend. He had a remarkable ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him. If you knew him, you loved him—his presence made every room brighter and every heart lighter. Brian enjoyed cruising, going to wineries and spending time with his wife and step-children. He will be remembered not only for his service and strength, but for his kindness, humor, and the deep love he gave to his family and friends.
Brian is survived by his loving wife, Disa J. (Farm) Rivard-Breen and two step-children, Hannah and Kyle Orosz and his cherished pup, Hope, all of Bristol. He is also survived by two sisters, Karen Deblois and her husband David of Maine and Deborah Breen of West Newbury, MA, father and mother-in-law, William and Elizabeth Farm of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and one son.
Rest in peace, Sergeant Breen…Your duty is done, but your legacy lives on.

A graveside service with military honors will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at the State Veteran’s Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT. Please meet directly at the cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5 – 7 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
