Alan B. Coffey, 87, of Southington, son of the late Joseph F. “Jay” Coffey and Arlene (Holmes) Coffey, formerly of Waterbury, Connecticut, passed away at his home on Monday, January 26, 2026. Alan was predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Herron) Coffey. He is survived by children, Deborah Coffey of Watertown, Diane Corona (Mark) of Oakville and two step-daughters, Mary Zavisza of San Jose, CA and Jean Campochiaro (Jim) of Southington, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his great friend, Chad Musselman. In addition to his wife Pat, Alan was predeceased by his son, Jay Coffey, stepson, John Zavisza, and his sister, Jayn Parker.
Alan served in the U.S. Air Force, security service, for four years spending time in Pakistan. Following his return to the United States, he was employed by the United States Central Intelligence Agency for over three years. Alan then joined Colonial Bank and Trust Company in Waterbury for fourteen years and then Fleet Bank in Hartford as a Corporate Trust Officer.
Music played a major role in Alan’s life; first in the Waterbury Civic Theater, followed by 49 years of barbershop harmony. He was the bass singer in numerous groups, The Chordial Four, An Unexpected Pleasure, Aged to Perfection and Soundwave Quartets, and was bass section leader for The Valley Chords Men and the Waterbury Barbershop Chorus. Alan was a life member of BPOE Lodge 265 in Waterbury and VFW Post 201. He loved to travel to many countries, deeply loved his wife, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, grand-dogs, and friends.

Alan’s family would like to thank HHC at Home Hospice Care and especially caretakers, Yvonne Jones and Elaine Brown-Green from Devotional Touch, for their compassion and excellent care.
A funeral service will be celebrated at 5:00 pm. on Friday, January 30, 2026 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 3-5 pm. at the funeral home. A burial with military honors will be held in the springtime at Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington.
