Allan T. Gemmell, 95, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at the West Haven VA Medical Center. Born on September 03, 1925, in Lennoxville, Quebec, Allan was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Gallant) Gemmell.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Lucille (Lofgren) Gemmell, son Thomas Gemmell and brother Clifford Gemmell. Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Lois (Gemmell) O’Hala (Richard), his sister in law, Judith Gemmell; his adult children Paul Gemmell, John Gemmell and Lorna Gemmell; daughter in-laws Wendy Gemmell (John) and Lesa Gemmell (Thomas); his grandchildren Joshua Gemmell (wife Brooke Foti Gemmell), Ryan Gemmell, Chelsea (Gemmell) Ferrebee (husband Joshua Ferrebee), Danielle Gemmell; his great grandson Tommy Anthony Gemmell and great granddaughter Gabriella Rae Ferrebee; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Proud to serve, Allan was a WWII Veteran, who earned the Purple Heart Award in battle overseas. He attended Central Connecticut college and University of Connecticut earning a master’s degree in education. He was certified by the board of Education as a high school guidance counselor in Meriden and Southington. Allan’s service to others continued after his retirement, volunteering his time at Bradley Memorial Hospital in various facets.
Allan was an educator, avid gardener, loved the movies, classical and Broadway music and doing crossword puzzles, and most important to him was the love of family which he passed on for generations to come. He was a kindhearted trustworthy man, and he will be truly missed beyond measure. Rest in Peace dear beloved.

Funeral services for Allan will be held on Saturday, August 28th at the First Congregational Church, 37 Main St., Southington, at 10 am. The procession will drive to South End Cemetery, 200 South End Rd, Southington. Calling hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021, at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S.
