Listen to Obituary

Ann B. (Jankowski) Domrad, 95, of Southington, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday,

March 31, 2026, surrounded by her family. Ann was the beloved wife of the late John J. Domrad for 62 years.

Ann was born on February 5, 1931, in Meriden, one of eleven children, to the late Joseph and Anna (Sujdak) Jankowski. She devoted her life to her family and filled her home with love, laughter, and warmth.

In her younger years, Ann enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling cross-country with John in their camper, cherishing every adventure they shared together. Later in life, she found joy in the comforts of home, but nothing made her happier than visits from her family. Her door was always open and waiting for her next visit — and her kitchen was too.

Ann had a creative and generous spirit. She loved crocheting, sewing, cake decorating, and working in her flower beds, taking great pride in sharing her cooking and baking with family and friends. Her homemade pierogies and ‘Nana’s’ hot buttery pancakes were a family favorite. She was also deeply devoted to her church, rarely missing her weekly Mass, whether in person or on television. She was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Plantsville and a woman of deep faith, grace, and kindness.

Ann’s love for her dogs was another constant source of joy throughout her life. They were her loyal companions and brought her peace and comfort throughout the years, especially Hailey, Cory, Bear, and Mia, just to name a few.

Ann is survived by four children: her daughters Diane Hamel and husband Gary, Kathy Chikar, and Tammy Kuzmich, and one son-in-law, Ozzie Day, all of Southington; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her “adopted daughter” Peggie Hick; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband John, Ann was predeceased by her son Michael Domrad, daughter Laurie Day, two sons-in-law, David Chikar and Randy Kuzmich, and her 10 siblings.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ann’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital(www.stjude.org).
