Anthony S. Gwiazdowski, Jr.

Anthony S. Gwiazdowski, Jr., 87, of Cheshire, CT, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 28, 2026. He was the loving husband of Catherine (Summa) Gwiazdowski for 59 years.

Anthony was born on June 26, 1938 in Waterbury, CT to the late Anthony Sr. and Caroline (Schieffer) Gwiazdowski. He graduated from Cheshire High School and went on to proudly serve in the US Navy aboard the USS Intrepid, being honorably discharged in 1962. Tony worked as a corrections officer at Cheshire Correctional Facility, retiring after 28 years of service. He was a longtime member at St. Aloysius Church in Plantsville and a volunteer firefighter for Engine Company 4 in Marion for many years. Tony loved animals and being outdoors; fishing, bow hunting, chopping wood and feeding the birds. He was a master gardener and master beekeeper and a member of the Sportsmen’s Club in Southington. He was also member of the American Legion, Kiltonic Post 72.

In addition to his wife Catherine, Tony is survived by four children; Carol Francis of FL, Michael Gwiazdowski and wife Jamie of FL, Amy Boudle and husband Leonard of Cheshire and Todd Gwiazdowski and wife Liz Gendreau of Southington; nine grandchildren, Emily Whipple (Jim Faroni), Anthony Whipple, Evan and Emma Schuster, Szymon and Sera Francis and Nicholas, Nathan and Alex Gwiazdowski and one cherished great-granddaughter, Juliette. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Schieffer and wife Shirley.

Funeral services will held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 10 a.m. from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville with an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Military honors will follow.
