Arlene L. Bouthot

Arlene L. (Veronneau) Bouthot, 81, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, May 19, 2024. She had been the beloved wife of the late Real A. Bouthot for over 25 years.

Arlene was born in Waterbury on January 9, 1943, the last of 7 children, to the late Charles and Marie (Lefevbre) Veronneau. She graduated from Crosby High School and worked as an inspector at Bruce Manufacturing for many years.

Arlene centered her life around faith and family. In 1964, she was one of the founding members of St. Aloysius Church and served as the President of the Ladies Guild for many years.  She was involved in organizing the annual Christmas Bazaar which helped raise money for the Lady’s Guild Scholarship Fund.  She always gave to the community of the church assisting in activities to bring the congregation together outside of mass such as the church picnic, children’s Halloween party, Easter egg hunt and the church plays.  After her retirement, she participated in the Lady’s Guild Honor Guard at funerals held at St. Aloysius.

Family always came first.  She readily volunteered to take care of her grandchildren taking pride in seeing them grow and in their accomplishments.  Any time one of the children needed transportation from school or for a sporting event she was there for them lending a helping hand.   When members of her family became ill she volunteered to assist in their care including her husband, her parents, her in-laws and several brothers who predeceased her.  Her son and daughter were proud to be able to give this gift back to her by assisting in her care.

She loved art, especially drawing and painting, and simple crafts.  Her children share her talent as adults as do her five grandchildren.  She enjoyed traveling and helped plan several driving trips across country with her husband and children.  Summer vacations were spent camping with her family in New Hampshire and later at Bonny Riggs in Becket, Mass.  In her later years, she enjoyed going on cruises with her sisters Jeanne and Betty.  After retirement, in the winter she would spend Christmas with her children and grandchildren then enjoy time in Florida with her sisters.

Arlene lived a simple life.  She will be remembered for her zest for life, love for her family, commitment to her faith and ability to forgive.  She will be missed by those who knew her for being someone who brought people together and for willfully giving of herself.

Arlene is survived by two children; daughter, Rosemarie Fallis and husband Richard of Southington and son, Arthur Bouthot and wife Agnieszka (Aga) of Plantsville and 5 grandchildren,  Jessica Fallis and Tomasz Walczak of Higganum, Timothy Fallis and wife Jenna of West Hartford, Dylan Fallis and wife Gabriella Novak-Fallis of Southington and Nathaniel (Nate) and Katherine (Katie) Bouthot, both of Southington. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Jeanne Leach of FL and Elizabeth Veronneau of Bristol, sister-in-laws, Joan Ann Veronneau and Barbara Veronneau.  In addition to her husband Real, she was predeceased by 4 brothers, Paul, Roger, Roland and Marcel Veronneau.

In honor of Arlene’s dedicated service to the St. Aloysius Ladies Guild, she has requested in lieu of flowers donations in her memory to be made to the St. Luke’s Scholarship Fund, c/o Rosemarie Fallis, 5 Homesdale Ave., Southington, CT 06489.
