Barbara Middleton Santello lost her fight to cancer on January 20, 2026. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Christopher Santello in February of 2008.
She is survived by her mother Jean Middleton and Barbara’s beloved partner of 17 years Mark Palmer, along with her four children, Christopher & Natalie Santello, Jessica & Sam Moncada, and the twins Madison & Mitchell Santello.
Besides raising her children, she worked from home for 20 years at Data Prep of West Hartford as a Data Entry Specialist. In between she worked part time delivering papers in the wee hours of the morning, loving the solitude of not dealing with people. Also part time at Home Depot for 7 years as bookkeeper/cashier, and for a short time worked at Stanley Black & Decker in New Britain & Direct Color Systems in Rocky Hill.
It was a long journey she shared on Facebook with her thousands of friends, encouraging everyone to get screened for cancer. She was a fighter and fought the cancer for over 6 years right to the end, keeping her sense of humor. She was strong, loved life, made so many friends. She loved animals, reading, Tuesday $5 movies days, spur of the moment lunches and drinks with friends, also brought friends together, along with the Twins club for over 24 years she made so many long lasting friendships. She loved Bingo & Trivia with the crew. She loved cruises, both on the sea & on the land in her green jeep with a parade of other jeeps to visit Vets or just cruising by the shore. Mostly, she loved her family. She was never alone in her journey.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at New Britain Hospital of Central CT Cancer Unit 5th floor & the Palliative & Hospice staff for the phenomenal care she received. She was so comfortable & they were all so patient right to the end.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bobbie’s memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (https://www.dana-farber.org) or to the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org).
