Barbara H. Silva, 92 of Southington, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Silva for sixty-six years prior to his death in 2020.

Barbara was born on May 3, 1933 in Bristol, CT to the late Rutherford and Gertrude (Hancock) Holt.

Barbara received her education in Bristol, CT. She was hired by CT Mutual shortly after completing high school. During her thirty-five-year career with CT Mutual, she rose from an intern to the title of Senior System Analyst and Programing Supervisor, while successfully completing training in code writing, data design and input, and system programing. Following her retirement, she was an active volunteer in several organizations including The First Congregational Church of Southington. She loved all forms of art and enjoyed completing crafts and oil painting. The result of these hobbies produced professional quality art. Barbara was a woman of faith, remarkable strength, and determination. Through her quiet acts of kindness, Barbara touched the lives of others in ways that will be remembered for years to come.

Barbara is survived by her sister Diane Scanlon and her sister-in-law Louisa Carneiro. In addition, she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. They include: William Livingstone (Nancy), Michael Livingstone, Mark Livingstone, Anthony Carneiro, Pamela Santos (Victor) and Glenn Silva (Pamela) and their respective families.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband Anthony and their infant son Mark as well as sisters Patricia Livingstone, Eleanor Hurlburt, Genevieve Prates, Irene Bast; brothers Richard Waibel, Clifton, James, George and John Holt; Walter and Joseph Baker and niece Susan Livingstone. Lastly, her loving companion pet dog Sayre.

Barbara’s family would like to offer our sincere thanks to her caregivers, especially Mary Jane Bernabe for continued support and consultation on Barbara’s medical condition and needs, Hartford Healthcare Hospice and the caring and dedicated nurses that attended to Barbara and Christina, her 24/7 home health aide for the past eight months. In addition, we appreciate the long, special and close friendship she maintained with Donna Mercier.
