Carol D. Samela

Carol D. Samela, 59, of Southington, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at The HOCC, Bradley Campus.

Carol was born on August 22, 1963, in Erie, PA to the late Gordon Coolbeth and Juanita (Lusa) Hare.

Carol graduated in 1981 from Northwestern High School in Albion, PA where she played first base on the women’s high school softball team. She then continued her education at Naugatuck Valley Community College and Stone Academy. She worked as a bus driver for the New Britain Transportation Bus Company for 6 years. Carol enjoyed watching her favorite baseball team, the Cleveland Guardians and her favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Carol is survived by the light of her life, daughter,  Lacey Samela of Southington and two brothers, Arthur Surdam of Brooklyn, NY and Jim Coolbeth of Conneaut, Ohio and her niece, Rebecca Coolbeth of Meadville, PA.

In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her stepdaughter, Chrissy Samela.

Memorial calling hours will be held from 5 -7 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
