Carolyn Grace Cello, 80, of Southington and former longtime Meriden resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Southington Care Center.
Carolyn was born on October 19, 1943 in Meriden to the late Louis and Flora (Vitale) Cello. She graduated from Platt High School class of 1963 and retired from Travelers Insurance Company after 40 years of service.
Carolyn enjoyed spending summers in Ocean City, MD with her extended family as well as listening to her favorite 60’s and 70’s crooners such as Frank Sinatra, Barry Manilow and (her favorite) Sergio Franchi. Carolyn was a loyal fan of the UConn Women’s basketball team and the New York Yankees. She enjoyed hours of reading and solving word search puzzles.
In addition to her loving parents, Carolyn was predeceased by her beloved sisters Lois Grimaldi and Joann Mongillo, brother-in-law Donald Grimaldi and niece, Angela Grimaldi. She is survived by her cherished nieces and nephews who she referred to as her “kids,” Steven and Frances Mongillo, Kyle and Lisa Niles, Gerard and Lyn Limanni, Chris Grimaldi and Paul and Elizabeth Mongillo. Carolyn is also survived by her brother-in-law, George Mongillo as well as many cousins, great-nieces and nephews.
Carolyn’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Southington Care Center for their kindness, compassion and excellent care they provided her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden.
