It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles North Williams, 92, of Southington, husband of Dorothy (Metzler) Williams, who died unexpectedly while swimming in his pool on September 28, 2025. He died doing what he loved most, soaking up the last few rays of summer.
Born in New Britain, Connecticut on February 11, 1933, he was the son of the late Harold North Williams and Evelyn Brooks Williams. He attended New Britain Public Schools, Dartmouth College and Cornell Law school.
Charles practiced law for 46 years at Camp, Williams and Richardson in New Britain. Long after retirement, he was always willing to help people with legal advice, and he loved sharing stories of his life experiences. He was very proud of his service in the United States Air Force having been trained if needed as a nuclear bombardier on the B-47 Aircraft stationed in Tucson, Arizona. He was a member of Plantsville Congregational Church in Southington. Besides being an avid reader and golfer, Charlie enjoyed theater, UConn basketball, the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, exercising at the YMCA, skiing in his younger days, attending his weekly breakfast group as a founding member of the “ROMEOs” and especially his long winter vacations in the Caribbean.
Charlie is the father of 3 children, Stanton (Jenny), Herbert (Lisa) and his devoted daughter Gretchen (Chris), and 1 stepdaughter, Stacy (Charles), plus 9 grandchildren. Charlie was predeceased by his brother, John, one sister, DJ and his beloved pets, Tootsie and Riley.
To honor Charlie’s love for animals, donations in his memory may be made to the Meriden Humane Society (https://www.meridenhumanesocietyrescue.com/).
