Cheryl I. (Wilson) Kalamajka, 72, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at HOCC at New Britain.She was the loving wife of the late James “Jim” V. Kalamajka for 51 years.
Cheryl was born on November 26, 1951 in Springfield, MA to the late Neil and Bernice “Bunny” (Jefts) Wilson. She grew up in Agawam, MA and earned her Master’s Degree in Education from North Adams State College.
Cheryl worked as a teacher for over 50 years and was passionate about her job, treating every one of her students as if they were her own. Cheryl loved to shop for all occasions, especially in preparation for the holidays. She was the family’s seamstress and loved to bake cookies for all occasions. She also loved the beach, especially trips to Siesta Key. Above all else, Cheryl’s family was her pride and joy. She was the most loving mother and grandmother.
Cheryl is survived by 3 children: Jason Kalamajka, Scott Kalamajka and wife Kelly and Kristin Kalamajka and Michael, and 4 grandchildren: Kayla, Pierce, Carter and Ronin. She is also survived by her sister, Lori White and her husband Keith and her lifelong friends, Tom and Denine O’Connor. In addition to her husband Jim, she was predeceased by her grandson, Jack and her brother, Kenneth Wilson.
