Claude E. Stout, 83, of Southington passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday May 11, 2014. He had been the loving husband of the late Helen (Borden) Stout.

Claude was born on September 13, 1930 in Elizabethton, TN to the late Mose and Celia (Estep) Stout and had been a Southington resident for over 55 years.

Claude proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a Purple Heart recipient. He worked as a tool and die maker, retiring from General Electric after 26 years of service. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Southington.

Claude is survived by his son Timothy Stout and his wife Angela of Southington, his daughter Patricia Sargis and her husband Douglas of Florida; 3 grandchildren: Kelly Fradette, Jeffrey Sargis and Brian Sargis, 3 great-grandchildren: Noah, Cory, and Ryan; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Stout of Southington and his niece, Ann Ellis of TN. He was predeceased by his son Claude Stout, his grandson Timothy Stout and 4 siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday May 14, 2014 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held before the service from 9 - 10 a.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home.
