Claudette Coulombe Levesque, 89, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, September 14, 2026.
She was born in Fort Kent, Maine on July 17, 1937, the daughter of the late Henry and Sadie (Marquis) Coulombe.
Claudette devoted her life to education, shaping the minds, confidence, and futures of generations of students through her compassion, encouragement and love of learning. She spent 60 years in the classroom, beginning her teaching career at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine and later taught in Winsted, Connecticut, before spending 39 years teaching 3rd grade at South End School in Southington, Connecticut. When she retired, her passion for teaching remained strong and she continued sharing her gift as a substitute teacher with the Lee County Schools in Florida.
Claudette was a cherished sister, inspiring teacher, devoted wife and loving mother. To the world she was a teacher, but to those whose lives she touched, she was a gift. Her lessons of kindness, patience and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Beyond the classroom, Claudette enjoyed reading and was never without a book in hand. She loved gardening, traveling and playing cards with family and friends. Claudette always looked forward to going to the family farm in Maine during the summer months. She also cherished capturing life's moments by taking and saving photographs for every event she attended.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Philip Levesque of Indialantic, Florida; her daughter, Cherie Reardon and husband Sean; her sister, Henrietta "Babe" Montagna and husband Raymond and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, Claudette was predeceased by her sisters, Rena Mae Rioux, Laurina Albert and Judy Coulombe; and her brothers, Clayton Coulombe, Allen Coulombe and Raymond Coulombe.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in Claudette's memory to the Friends of the Southington Public Library, 225 Main St., Southington, CT 06489 (https://www.southingtonlibrary.org/) or the American Heart Association, (https://www.heart.org/).
