David R. Porter

David R. Porter, 84, of Southington, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, September 18, 2026.

David was born on March 16, 1942 in Bristol to the late Sterling Albert Sr. and Margaret Ann (Skinner) Porter. He graduated from Southington High School, Class of 1960 and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

David had many different jobs in his lifetime; working as a delivery truck driver in California to bank telling at TD Bank and eventually retiring from the Meriden Post Office. David loved to travel and had a passion for reading.

He is survived by two brothers, Sterling Porter Jr. and Thomas Porter and his wife Connie, both of Southington and his sister-in-law, Claudette Porter of Sarasota, FL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Porter, two brothers, James Porter and Terry Porter and two sisters-in-law, Leatrice Porter and Ann Porter.

A graveside service with military honors will be celebrated at 12 noon on Friday, September 25, 2026 at St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington, with David’s nephew, Father James Porter presiding.
