Donald A. Anderson, 94, of Cromwell, CT, passed away peacefully at Covenant Living of Cromwell on Sunday, February 15, 2026. He was the loving husband of the late Linda (Hillquist) for over 30 years.

Don was born on May 25, 1931 in New Britain, CT to the late Harold A. and Sara (Lundin) Anderson. He attended New Britain schools and proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force. Following his service in the military he attended and graduated from the University of CT with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and then continued to earn a Master’s degree in Management from the School of Business at Columbia University.

Donald had a long successful career in the utilities industry starting with CT Light & Power and ultimately retiring from Public Service Electric and Gas in 1993. Don and Linda embraced retirement, splitting their time between Naples, Florida and Long Beach Island, New Jersey.

Donald traveled for much of his career and that love of travel continued into his retirement taking opportunities to bring loved ones with him. He and Linda particularly enjoyed taking cruises.

His favorite pastime was golf which he enjoyed playing with colleagues, family and friends. One of his memorable highlights was playing with Sam Snead for several days at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia. Traveling to Scotland and playing the course at St. Andrew’s was a highlight. In addition to golf, Don was a lifelong fan of NASCAR.

Donald will be remembered for his strong faith, devotion to God and the teachings of the church. He spent much of his time volunteering at churches both in LBI and Florida in many different capacities.

After the passing of Donald’s wife, Linda, he moved to Covenant Living in Cromwell to be closer to family and enjoy the fellowship of others. He truly enjoyed everything that assisted living had to offer from Sunday church service and devotions, to weekly exercise programs and group games and activities, as well as cheering on UConn Women's Basketball.

Donald loved his family and proudly embraced his role as patriarch. He is survived by his children, David Anderson of Sudbury, MA; Thomas Anderson of Ellington, FL; Leslie Anderson of Glastonbury; Steven Anderson of Houston, TX; and Linda’s son, Jason Heal (Jackie) of Nutley, NJ. Additionally, he is survived by six grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Linda, Donald was predeceased by three brothers, Richard E. Anderson, Robert G. Anderson and Leonard H. Anderson. He is survived by his sister, Marilyn E. Anderson.
