Doreen C. Kafka

Doreen C. (Paquin) Kafka, 68, of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, after a short illness. 

Doreen was born on July 24, 1956 in Meriden, one of six children, to the late Donald and Dolores (Darisse) Paquin. Doreen was a firecracker. She was sweet but fiery and was fiercely independent. Her spicy sarcasm always let people know what she was thinking. She loved shopping for a good bargain and was always generous with her family and friends. Doreen had a green thumb and loved beautiful flowers. Her greatest love was family, especially her grandchildren and her beloved dog, Xoe. 

Doreen is survived by 3 children, Theresa Zavarella and husband Ed of Wethersfield, Tracy Munson and husband Joel of Plantsville and Sean Kafka and wife Diana of Plantsville and 9 adored grandchildren: Nicholas, Anthony, Jonathan, Joel Jr., Matthew, Elyanna, Makayla, Lucas and Noelle. She is also survived by 4 siblings, Linda Schultz, Susan Downs, Diane Laden (Howie) and Donald Paquin, and her extended family including her aunt Lois Polmanteer, sister-in-law, Lynn Kafka (Billy) and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Michael Paquin.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Doreen’s memory may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, 121 Pleasant St., Southington, CT 06489. 

A memorial service will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Grace United Methodist Church, 121 Pleasant St., Southington.
