Dorothy A. Abramczyk

Dorothy “Dottie” A.  (Wisk) Abramczyk, 89, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at HOCC in New Britain. She was the loving wife of Henry R. Abramczyk for 71 years.

Born on July 28, 1934 in New Britain, CT to the late Walter and Stasia (Dawidczyk) Wisk, she had been a longtime Southington resident.

Dorothy worked as a comptroller at New Britain General Hospital for many years. She was a longtime active parishioner at the Immaculate Conception Church in Southington.

Dottie will be remembered for her enormous heart and ability to love all those around without judgement. Her infectious laugh and beautiful smile will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Dottie was a devoted church parishioner and member of the Holy Rosary Society at the Immaculate Conception Church of Southington. She enjoyed making pierogi's with her husband and fellow parishioners around the holidays, these are just some of the many acts of kindness that those who knew her will never forget and hold close to their hearts forever. But perhaps what brought her the most joy was spending time with her husband, Henry, son, David, daughter, Linda, grandchildren, friends and family. Whether it was shopping, traveling or simply sharing laughter around the dinner table, family was the center of her world.

In addition to her husband Henry, Dottie is survived by two children, son, David R. Abramczyk Sr. and lifelong partner Mary Jane Vita of Bristol and daughter, Linda Abramczyk Smith and husband Herman of Steamboat, CO, 3 grandchildren: Jody Manion and husband Robert of New Hartford David Abramczyk Jr. and his wife Brittney of New Hartford and Kelsey Abramczyk and Joseph Grochowski of Southington and 7 great-grandchildren: Jordyn, James, Jacob, Luke, Landon, Aiden and Harlee. She was predeceased by her brothers, Walter and Robert Wisk and a granddaughter, Julie Abramczyk.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dottie’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org).
