Dorothy W. Giannetti

Dorothy “Dottie” W. (Chalecki) Giannetti, 96, of Meriden and formerly of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at MidState Medical Center. She was the loving wife of the late Michael Giannetti who predeceased her in 1972. 

Dorothy was born on April 30, 1928 in Southington to the late Lucyan and Anna (Azarske) Chalecki and had been a Plantsville resident for most of her life. Dorothy graduated from Lewis High School and attended the former Briarwood College. Dorothy was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Southington where she loved to sing in the choir. She enjoyed needlepoint embroidery and volunteering at local churches and the Salvation Army. Dorothy always put her family first and was a wonderful mother to her 3 boys. 

Dorothy is survived by 2 sons, Michael D. Giannetti and his wife Maxine of Windsor and Joseph E. Giannetti and Janice Shenett of Meriden and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Michael, Dorothy was predeceased by one son, John Giannetti and 4 siblings, Bernard Chalecki (Alice), Dr. William Chalecki (Lois), George Chalecki and Mary "May" Chalecki. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Southington. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Southington. There are no calling hours. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
