Dorothy “Dee” Glowasky, 93, of Plantsville and Bristol, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the Ingraham Manor in Bristol.
Dorothy was born on May 26, 1932 in Wolcott to the late Andrew and Susan (Shia) Glowasky. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Glowasky of Marion and several nieces and nephews, whom she treated like her own. Dorothy was predeceased by four brothers, George, John, Richard and Paul Glowasky and four sisters, Ethel Fortier, Jane Glowasky, Anne Kalinowski and Ruth Kuzara.
Dorothy was quiet and gentle and saw the world through rose colored glasses – No matter the circumstances she would always say, “It’s all good.”
Athletic in her younger years, Dorothy became the “fashion expert” as she moved into her working career – which included being a buyer for the Women’s and Bridal departments of Raphael’s Dept. Store in New Britain, CT and then moving into the fashion industry in NYC.
Dorothy loved traveling, both within the U.S. and abroad but her favorite travels were those family, “Ladies only vacations.”
Family was very important to her and she always, when possible, attended all family occasions. She could often be found cheering her nieces and nephews in their sporting events.
Later in life, if asked if she could handle a certain task, she would always reply, “Of course I can…I grew up on the farm, don’t forget!!” Her homestead always held a special place in her heart.
A special thanks to those health care workers who went above and beyond in caring for Dorothy. She loved you for it.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
