Duane Osher

Listen to Obituary

Duane Osher, 85, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Born on March 23, 1941, in Dannemora, New York, Duane was the son of the late Ernest and Annette (Agoney) Osher. A hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family, he worked for more than 30 years as a cement truck driver for L. Suzio York Hill Concrete Company and also took pride in his work as a baker at the former Nutmeg Bakery in Southington.

A one-of-a-kind dad, Duane showed his love through his dedication and sacrifices for his family. He was generous and always willing to help others without expecting anything in return. His kindness, hard work, and devotion to those he loved will remain part of his lasting legacy.

Duane was a man of faith, a longtime member of St. Thomas Church in Southington, and a devoted supporter of the Shrine of Lourdes in Litchfield, which held a special place in his heart. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, and hot air ballooning. He also loved playing the lottery and was never shy about asking someone to get his numbers! He cherished life's simple pleasures, from occasional rides to the beach to outings to admire the fall foliage.

Duane's greatest legacy was his family. He is survived by his four children: Jeffrey Osher of Green Bay, Wisconsin; James Osher of Plainville; Jody Osher and his wife, Tracy, of Plantsville; and Jennifer Pompei and her partner, Peter Griffin, of Southington. He also leaves his grandchildren, Joshua Osher, Anthony Pompei, Landen Pompei, and Cayden Osher, and his great-grandchild, Connor Walach of South Carolina. He is also survived by his former wife, Sharon Wagner of Torrington, with whom he maintained a loving relationship; his close friend, Marie Bonomi of Southington; his former sister-in-law, Diane Guzzi of New Britain and his nieces and nephew; Debbie, Lori, Sherril, Tammie, and Adam.

In addition to his parents, Duane was predeceased by his sister, Sylvia Mongillo, his brother, Gary Osher Sr. and his nephews, Gary Osher Jr. and Benjamin Sommers.

Duane will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his generous heart, strong work ethic, faith, and devotion to his family. The memories he created and the simple moments he shared with those he loved will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Duane's memory to The Shrine of Lourdes in Litchfield (https://www.shrinect.org/).
