Edward C. Reinhard, Sr., 93, of Southington and formerly of Cheshire, passed away peacefully with his granddaughter, Mary Reinhard, RN, by his side, on Monday, April 29, 2024. He was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” (Spinelli) Reinhard for 63 years.
Ed was born on February 13, 1931 in Meriden to the late William Sr. and Olive (Andrews) Reinhard. He started working as a truck driver at a young age and knew how to work hard to support his family. He retired from Sealy Mattress where he was the fleet supervisor. He also owned and operated A1 Lubricating Services.
In his retirement, Ed enjoyed traveling to all 50 states with Betty and visiting many different state parks. He especially enjoyed keeping an eye on the weather.
Ed is survived by five children; son, Ed Reinhard Jr. and his wife Kathy of Southington; daughter, Diane Klecha and her husband JB of Nokomis, FL; son, Rich Reinhard and his wife Fran of Bristol; son, Larry Reinhard and his wife Ginny of South Dakota and daughter, Donna Cardinale and her husband Dean of Plainville as well as 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Angela Theriault and her husband Norbert of Southington and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Betty, Ed was predeceased by his brother, William Reinhard and sister, Louise Loucks.
Ed’s family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all the doctor’s and caregivers for the excellent care and kindness he received over the last 5 years.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 12 noon on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington.
