Elizabeth "Betty" Mae (Myers) Wilkes, 91, of Southington, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 6, 2014. She had been the loving wife of the late John J. Wilkes Sr.

Born November 7, 1922 in Shandaken, NY to the late Clayton and Pearl (Fuller) Myers, she had been a longtime Southington resident.

Betty was a Sunday school teacher at the First Congregational Church of Southington. She worked at Hatton School as a cafeteria worker and at the Thompson Candy Company in Meriden. She also was a member of the Pocahontas Club.

She is survived by her son John J. Wilkes Jr. and his wife Marion of Southington and two daughters, Joan Bell of Southington and Susan Gagnon of New Hampshire. Elizabeth was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and was predeceased by 2 brothers, Ralph and Edward Myers.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the First Congregational Church, 37 Main St., Southington. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington.
