Gavin H. Waycott

Gavin H. Waycott, 67, of Plantsville and Port Charlotte, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday Aug. 27, 2014 at Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden. He was the loving husband of Sandra (Gugliotti) Waycott for 42 years.

Born on September 22, 1946 in Pawtucket, RI to the late Omer and Marion (Couper) Waycott, he had been a longtime Plantsville resident and spent the winters golfing in Florida.

Gavin was a pipefitter at American Cyanamid and more recently worked at AGC in Meriden, while his passion has always been sharing his knowledge of antiques. Gavin's love for the game of golf started at age 10 as a caddy and grew over last 57 years. Gavin was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying fishing and the Boston Red Sox.

In addition to his wife Sandra, he is survived by his loyal companion "Bella," his sister Donna Gerry and her husband John and his sister-in-law Charlene Waycottl, his "special" niece Krystina Jankowski and her husband Jay, three step-brothers: William, Terry and Earl Cox, several nieces and nephews and his very dear friends: Walt Layman, Tom Spratta, and Bob Celentano. He was predeceased by his brother Bruce Waycott.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville with a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington.
