George J. McKenney
George J. McKenney, 75, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the West Haven VA Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Sandra (Allen) McKenney for 55 years.
George was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine on November 4, 1948 to the late Gerald and Emma (Boulier) McKenney. He graduated from Southington High School, Class of 1966 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in international finance and economics from the University of Hartford. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Southington. George was a U.S Marine Veteran, Purple Heart recipient, who proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the DAV. He retired from Parsons Brinckerhoff, Inc. in 2014 where he held the position of Vice President and Deputy Program Manager. George loved music, his family, his flowers and his dogs, especially his amazing Chantilly Lace.
In addition to his wife Sandy, George is survived by one son, SFC Michael David McKenney and wife Missy of Brimfield, MA and his much-loved Kastle kids and grandkids. He was predeceased by his daughter, Eileen A. McKenney Englert and sister, Almy Jean McKenney.

A memorial service with military honors will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church, 531 Woodruff St., Southington. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10 – 11 a.m. at the church. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
