Gerald A. Tully, 83, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family by his side. He had been the loving husband of the late Claudette (Clavet) Tully for 35 years.
Jerry was born on April 18, 1942 in New Britain, CT and had been a longtime Plantsville resident.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a heavy equipment mechanic in the 3rd Engineer Battalion, 24th Infantry Division in Munich Germany for three years. He worked in the transportation department at Stanley Works, retiring after 34 years of service. Jerry did lots of traveling in his lifetime and especially enjoyed trips to Canada with Claudette to visit her family. He also loved the time they spent fishing with the grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his son, John Tully and wife Terri of Oxford, daughters, Kristine Tully of Southington and Darcy DeLucia and husband Mark of PA and Sherri Post of Southington, four grandchildren, Nicole Cyr and Vanessa Cyr, both of Southington, Jessica LaPoint (Rob Bonadies) of Windsor, Kevin LaPoint (Allison) of New Britain and one great-grandson, Carter. He is also survived by his twin brother, Edward A. Tully and wife Judith of Newington and two nephews, Scott Tully (Jill) of Kent and Michael Tully of Newington.

Jerry’s family would love to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the medical professionals that helped him along his health journey, especially Dr. Giove and staff from the HOCC New Britain Department of Hematology & Oncology, his primary care, Dr. Catharine Holmes, his cardiologist, Dr. Wrinkler, the staff from the Infusion Center at HOCC Bradley in Southington and Dr. Peter Bloom from Connecticut G.I.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held before the service from 9 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
