Gerry M. Lacasse, age 50, of Southington, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on the morning of Sunday, April 7, 2024, after a fierce and courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Angela “Angie” (Thibodeau) Lacasse for 25 years.
Gerry was born in Hartford on September 15, 1973 to Gerard and Christiane (Morissette) Lacasse and graduated from Southington High School, Class of 1991.
Immediately following graduation, Gerry joined the United States Marine Corps in 1991, proudly serving his country and being Honorably discharged in 1995. Upon his return from service, Gerry embarked on a family business in construction for 12 years. On August 13, 2007, Gerry was sworn in as a Newington Police Officer where his commitment to serving the community continued until his retirement on April 28, 2023. Among life’s many simplest pleasures, Gerry enjoyed hockey, camping, fishing, hunting, going to concerts, country line dancing and riding motorcycles. Above all else, spending time with family and friends was most important. His greatest joy was becoming “G-pa” to his grandson, Oliver.
Gerry was a selfless human being, constantly radiating kindness and boundless generosity. He possessed a great sense of humor that stayed with him until the very end. He touched all of our lives in so many ways during his short time with us and we are all better people for having him with us.
In addition to his wife Angie and his parents, Gerry is survived by his son, Dillon Lacasse, his daughter, Jolene Lacasse and Brad Bell and was the beloved “G-pa” to his cherished grandson, Oliver Lacasse. He is also survived by two brothers, Jimmy Lacasse (Annie Crete) , his sister, Sandra Schneider (John Campochiaro) and Kaven Lacasse. He is also survived by his father-in-law, George “Ernie” Thibodeau and his mother-in-law, Paula Mulherin, his brothers-in-law, Danny Thibodeau (Kim) and Matthew Thibodeau, sister-in-law, Tracy LeBelle and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family in Maine and Canada. Gerry will be deeply missed by countless friends, his brothers and sisters in blue and his USMC family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerry’s memory may be made to the House of Heroes CT, 3342 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT 06518 (www.hohct.org/).
Memorial calling hours will be held from 3 – 6p.m. with military honors at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Monsieur Gerry M. Lacasse est décédé paisiblement Dimanche le 7 avril 2024 à l’âge de 50 ans. Il nous a quitté entouré de sa famille après une lutte courageuse contre le cancer. Il était le mari aimant d'Angela "Angie" (Thibodeau) Lacasse depuis 25 ans.
Gerry est né à Hartford le 15 septembre 1973. Il était le fils de Gérard et Christiane (Morissette) Lacasse. Il a reçu son diplôme d’études secondaires à Southington High School, promotion de 1991.
Immédiatement après avoir obtenu son diplôme, Gerry a rejoint le Corps des Marines des États-Unis en 1991, servant fièrement son pays et étant libéré honorablement en 1995. À son retour du service, Gerry s'est lancé dans une entreprise familiale de construction pendant 12 ans. Le 13 août 2007, Gerry a prêté serment en tant qu'officier de police à Newington CT où son engagement à servir la communauté s'est poursuivi jusqu'à sa retraite le 28 avril 2023. Parmi les plaisirs les plus simples de la vie, Gerry aimait le hockey, le camping, la pêche, la chasse, assister à des concerts, faire de la danse country et conduire sa moto. Ce qu’il aimait par-dessus tout était de passer du temps avec sa famille et ses amis. Sa plus grande joie a été de devenir le « G-pa » de son petit-fils, Oliver.
Il était un être humain dévoué et sa générosité était sans limites. Il possédait un grand sens de l'humour qui l'a accompagné jusqu'à la toute fin. Gerry a touché nos vies à bien des égards pendant son court séjour avec nous et nous sommes tous devenu de meilleures personnes grâce à sa bienveillance.
Outre son épouse et ses parents, Gerry laisse dans le deuil son fils, Dillon Lacasse, sa fille, Jolene Lacasse et Brad Bell. Il était le « G-pa » bien-aimé de son petit-fils bien-aimé, Oliver Lacasse. Il laisse également dans le deuil deux frères et une sœur, Jimmy Lacasse (Annie Crete), Sandra Schneider (John Campochiaro) ainsi que Kaven Lacasse. Il laisse également dans le deuil son beau-père, George « Ernie » Thibodeau et sa belle-mère, Paula Mulherin, ses beaux-frères, Danny Thibodeau (Kim) et Matthew Thibodeau, sa belle-soeur Tracy LeBelle et plusieurs oncles et tantes, ses nièces, neveux et membres de la famille élargie du Maine et du Canada. Gerry manquera à d'innombrables amis, à ses confrères et consœurs de la police et à sa famille du USMC.

La famille recevra les condoléances le samedi 20 avril 2024 15h à 18h avec les honneurs militaires débutant à 18 heures à la Maison funéraire Plantsville, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
