Gertrude R. (Cirilli) Caccio, 92, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Cheshire Regional Rehab Center.

Born December 26, 1922 in Hartford to the late Joseph and Clara (Dejulio) Cirilli, she had been a longtime Southington resident.

Gertrude was the best mom, grandmother and mother-in-law anyone could ever hope for. Always with open loving arms, positive words and always encouraging us to do our best. She was a wonderful sister and friend to all of her brothers and sisters and an aunt who knew everyone and cared and loved all of them. She especially loved being thoroughly involved with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to sing with her sisters, dance with her senior group and beat us all when she was bowling. She was a very active and vibrant soul, a great friend and she will be dearly missed and always loved and remembered for her openness, honesty and quick and charming wit.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lynn St. James and her husband Roger of Prospect and Lisa Russell and her husband Randy of Bear, DE, her son Mark Caccio and his wife Kandy of Columbia, CT, 7 grandchildren: Christopher Strong and his wife Sharon, Matthew Strong, Marcus Caccio, Alexander Russell, Kyle Caccio, Joy Barber and her husband Jason and Jay St. James, 10 great-grandchildren; Tyler Strong, Alexis Strong, Aiden Strong, Aijha Caccio, Marcus Caccio Jr., Faith Caccio, Kyree Caccio, Miyoko Caccio, Sydney Barber and Sophia Barber and over 100 nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind three sisters: Victoria Heller, Clara Cormier and Virginia Cormier and her husband Conrad, all of CT. She was predeceased by her sister, Seconda Heeber and her husband Walter and 6 brothers: Dominic Cirilli and wife Mary, Eguildo "Gene" Cirilli and wife Helen, Armando "Jim" Cirilli and wife Margaret, Levio Cirilli and wife Theresa, Quinto Cirilli and Joseph Cirilli and wife Martha.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015 from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville with a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Plantsville. Burial will be held privately.
