Ihor Theodore Stasiuk, 79, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Hartford Hospital. He was the loving husband of Lennea (Gray) Stasiuk for over 55 years.
Theodore was born on February 25, 1944 in Lviv, Ukraine, son of the late Michael and Helen (Rak) Stasiuk.
Theodore was a kind and generous man, who will be remembered by many. He loved music. Ted was an exceptional vocalist and a talented guitarist and violinist. He was a member of the Prometheus Men’s Choir in PA, the Dumka Choir of NYC, the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus, and the Yevshan Choir in Hartford. He was an active member of the Ukrainian community and a lifelong member of the St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in New Britain. He served as the choir director for many years. Ted earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Connecticut and worked in electroplating, retiring from MacDermid in Waterbury.
In addition to his wife Lennea, Thedore is survived by three children; daughter, Christina Jamharian and husband David, daughter, Daria Meskill and husband David, both of Southington and son, Michael Stasiuk and wife Jamie of Stamford and 6 grandchildren; Maddy and Talie Richardson, Gregory and Elise Jamharian and Nicholas and Laila Stasiuk. He is also survived by two sisters, Sister Dia Stasiuk of Philadelphia, PA and Oksana Hodowanec of Pittsburgh, PA, one niece, Maria Bej and two nephews, Paul and Mark Hodowanec. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, George Hodowanec.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Theodore’s memory may be made to St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 303 Eddy Glover Blvd., New Britain, CT 06053.
Friends and family are invited to attend a wake on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 4 p.m.- 6:30 p.m. with a Panakhyda held at 6:30 p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023 at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 303 Eddy Glover Blvd, New Britain. Please meet directly at the church.
