James L. Dietrichsen

James Lee Dietrichsen, 54, of Waterbury, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026. Born on December 28, 1971, in Manchester, CT, James lived a life marked by deep love for his family, a strong faith, and a genuine kindness that touched many who knew him.

James’ faith was an important part of his life and guided the way he cared for others. He had a gift for bringing warmth, laughter, and light wherever he went, and his easygoing spirit made people feel welcome. His son, Collin, was the center of his world, and James cherished every moment they shared. He was especially excited to become a grandfather to his soon-to-arrive grandson, James Jeremiah Dietrichsen.

James is survived by his son, Collin Dietrichsen and his wife, Diana, who are carrying his memory forward in Oceanside, California, along with their soon-to-arrive son. He is also survived by his three sisters, Kimberly Rogala and her fiancée John Fusco, Jennifer Solomon, and Stephanie Ashner and her husband James, as well as his many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He carried that love with him in his own personal way; with tattoos of their names as reminders of the special place they each held in his life. James was predeceased by his mother, Linda Phillips, who was a deeply special and important person in his life.

James was Shift Supervisor at Wellmore-Morris House in Waterbury. To his coworkers, he was more than a colleague—he was a friend who brought laughter, kindness, and genuine care to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives he touched, both at work and beyond.

Even through his difficult times, James’ faith, his love for his family, and his capacity to care for others remained important parts of who he was and how he will be remembered.
