James J. Wagner, Sr., 72, of Southington passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, June 4, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Casale) Wagner for 28 years.
James was born on October 15, 1953 in Waterbury, CT to the late Edward J. and Joan (Grady) Wagner.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army. His career in telecommunications with AT&T/Frontier as a Network Technician spanned 43 years, a testament to his dedication, skill, and work ethic. Outside of work, Jim found joy in life’s simple pleasures—cooking, reading, watching crime shows, camping, playing Mahjong, taking long drives, listening to music, and making regular stops at Dunkin’ Donuts. He was an enthusiastic UCONN basketball fan and loved settling in to watch football. Jim loved to golf, especially his time spent playing in the Lyman Orchard League. He was also a proud member of the Gang Scarpa Shoda, a community that truly meant a great deal to him. Jim will be lovingly remembered for his loyal heart, his playful and charismatic spirit, and his gentle, caring nature. Those who knew him will never forget the funny, good‑humored warmth that made them feel so comfortable around him.
Jim is survived by his wife Kathleen and his children; Elizabeth Lopez (Orlando), James Wagner, Jr., Vic Wagner and Jyllian Wagner, his brother, Edward Wagner (Therese), his sister-in-law, Janet Wagner, several nieces and nephews and a large extended family. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brother, Michael Wagner and sister, Susan Millette.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to: The Casale Family Scholarship Fund; C/O Kathy Wagner, 124 Raynor St., Southington, CT 06489.
