James Harry Zabel

James Harry Zabel, 43, of Southington, entered into eternal Heaven on Sunday, November 1, 2026. He was the loving and devoted father of his two cherished children, Cora and Colton.

James was born on April 4, 1983, in Bristol, to Wayne and Lisa (Madore) Zabel. He graduated from Southington High School, Class of 2001. For over 20 years, James proudly owned and operated Zabel Concrete alongside his father, building a successful business through years of hard work and dedication.

James embraced life to the fullest and had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, camping, backpacking, hunting, working out, cliff jumping, paddleboarding, fishing, and spending time at the beach. Above all, his greatest joy was being a father, and he treasured every moment spent with his children. Deeply spiritual, James was guided by his strong faith in God.

In addition to his parents, Wayne and Lisa, and his beloved children, Cora and Colton, whom he shared with their mother, Tricia, James is survived by his two brothers, Greg Lynt (Karolyn) and Ryan Zabel (Sofia), both of Bristol; his devoted fiancée, Deirdre Way, and her daughter, Aoife, of Haddam; and his two nieces, Madison Zabel and Azayda Lynt. He also leaves behind a large, loving extended family and many dear friends.

James was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Harry and Kathy Zabel, and his maternal grandparents, Shirley and Maynard Madore.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made toward the future education of James’ children. Checks may be made payable to Lisa Zabel, James’ mother, who will collect contributions on their behalf.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2026, at Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow at Peacedale Cemetery, 15–199 James P. Casey Rd., Bristol.

Calling hours will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at Plantsville Funeral Home.
