Janet Whitford

Janet (Vredenburgh) Whitford, 76, of Southington passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 14 with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Bruce H. Whitford for over 44 years.

Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Irma (Anderson) Vredenburgh. Janet grew up in Berlin, graduated from Berlin High School and went on to Bay Path College. She then pursued a career in Medical Administration and later went on to partner with her husband in the operations of Whitford Electric Inc., retiring in 2014. Janet’s favorite thing to do was sit on the porch of their cottage in Smith Cove, Niantic to relax, reflect and watch the boats go peacefully by with Bruce.

In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by her daughter Karen L. (Hansen) D’Agostino and her husband Mark, Sr., of Southington, her son Robert W. Hansen III and his wife Katherine of Berlin, her sister Linda Coleman of Cromwell and Niantic, her grandchildren Mark, Jr. and Christian D’Agostino, Evan, Ethan, Nathaniel and Elizabeth Hansen, her stepsons Michael Whitford and his wife Debbie of FL, Brian Whitford and his wife Joanne of Southington, Mark Whitford and his wife Dawn of Bristol, step grandchildren Erica, Alicia, Melanie and Emma Whitford, Adam, Alex and Aiden Whitford, Amber and Kenneth Whitford, great grandchildren Tristian, Addison, Gianna and Maeli.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 4:00 pm at Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 South Main St., Plantsville, CT. Burial will be private.
