Jeanne Barbara Haupt Lopatosky, 99 years of age, of Southington passed away at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain on December 30, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas John Lopatosky. Born in New Britain on June 8, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Charlotte Valeria (Zeimet) Haupt. On September 8, 1947, she married Tom and together they shared 59 years of life-long happiness and raised a devoted family of twelve children.
Jeanne was a special soul who led a life of selfless service. She led an active Christian life. One of the most important things she felt she did was support her husband, Tom, become a Deacon and work for the church. She taught 3rd grade religion classes at St. Thomas Church for years, was involved in the Dominican Sisters of the Peace Associates, and was a Minister of the Eucharist at St. Thomas Church for 28 years. She was honored by the Church Women United, and honored to receive the St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation from the Archdiocese of Hartford. She volunteered at Bradley Memorial Hospital and belonged to Sister Marie’s Lap Blanket ministry, making lap blankets for people in the convalescent home and those homebound. She made many sweaters for Knit for Kids, an organization that sends sweaters to kids all over the world. She knitted baby blankets for the neonatal unit at UConn Health Center. She also made quilts with the support of others for a school that was changed into apartments where families could live in Hartford. She did this through St Thomas.
Besides all of her community service work, Jeanne loved spending time with family and friends. She was known for her warmth, sense of humor, and touched many lives through her gentle spirit, positive outlook on life and steady presence. She was an avid card player and loved to win. She was gifted with a remarkable sewing artistry. She had a love of genealogy and took great joy in researching family history, passing memories down to each generation. One of her favorite things to do in her later years was go out to eat, and share a meal with family and friends. She was a trusted confidant to many, known for her ability to listen and to keep every confidence. If you told her something, it stayed with her. She also kept the post office in business. She never missed a birthday or anniversary, faithfully sending cards filled with thoughtful words, prayers, and love to remind others they were remembered. She will be profoundly missed by so many.
Jeanne is survived by 12 children and their spouses, Thomas J. and Myrna (Siton) Lopatosky of North Providence, RI, Mark F. Lopatosky and Becky Williams of Gloucester MA, Martin P.
