Jennie (Marciniec) Urillo, 92, of Southington, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Hartford HealthCare at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington. She had been the loving wife of the late Anthony L. Urillo for 56 years.

Born June 24, 1923 in Southington to the late Jan and Stefania (Plachno) Marciniec, she had been a lifelong Southington resident.

Mrs. Urillo was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church. A 1941 graduate of Lewis High School in Southington, she was class essayist and happily attended the seventieth reunion of this class four years ago.

She was one of the first women of her generation to graduate from college. She attended The Sargent College of Allied Health at Boston University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with a certificate in Physical Therapy. This led to a fulfilling career as a Physical Therapist at Newington Children's Hospital in Newington, CT, and several hospitals throughout the United States working largely with children afflicted with polio. She went on to co-found The Step Saver/Observer in Southington in 1963 and was the backbone of the operation, working diligently to ensure the timeliness of the publications, and running the circulation department, all while raising seven children.

Mrs. Urillo will be fondly remembered for her love of cooking including award-winning pickles, jellies, jams and other canned goods, hosting social events. During her retirement she loved to travel whenever she could especially with her family.

She is survived by her daughter Stephanie Urillo, DDS of Southington; her daughter Susan Urillo Larson and husband Keith and their daughter Erica of Southington; Mary Urillo and husband Kevin Clarke and her children Heather, Jacob and Sarah Lautman of Reading, MA; Marta Urillo and husband Giuseppe Palumbo and their children Isabelle, Gianfranco and Anthony Palumbo of Southington; her son Anthony J. Urillo of Southington; her daughter Angela Moore and husband Ralph and their son Samuel of Melrose, MA; her son Robert Urillo and wife Susan and their son Zachary of Southington. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony L. Urillo and her brothers Stanley Marciniec of Rockville, MD, and Walter F. Marciniec of Southington, CT.

Funeral services will be held at 9 AM on Saturday, November 21, 2015 from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 South Main St., Plantsville with a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Plantsville.
