John A. Adams, 96, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Autumn Lake in New Britain. He had been the loving husband of the late Diane (Collins) Adams for 60 years.

John was born in Southington on April 20, 1926 to the late Leslie and Evelyn (Sylvia) Adams and had been a lifelong Southington resident.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and continued his service in the National Guard during Occupation Germany, being honorably discharged in 1953. John worked as an auto mechanic at Boyd J. Height and Mitchell Motors for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Kiltonic Post 72 and enjoyed building intricate balsam wood models. John also enjoyed going out to lunches and dinners with Diane at many local restaurants, especially the Olive Garden.

John is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Diane, he was predeceased by 2 brothers, Leslie Adams Jr. and Horace Adams and 2 sisters, Marjorie Adams and Mary Derynioski.

Donations in John’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at South End Cemetery, 200 South End Rd, Southington.  Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. For online condolences and directions, please visit www.plantsvillefuneralhome.com.
