John Ogden

John (Don) Ogden, 76, of Southington, CT passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026 surrounded by family.

He was the loving husband of Patricia Ogden with whom he shared 52 wonderful years of marriage.

John was born on January 6, 1950 in Chamblee, GA to the late Frederic and Louise (Osborne) Ogden. He was raised in Cheshire, CT where he attended Cheshire Acadamy and later graduated from Quinnipiac University. He was a Southington resident for 52 years.

His career consisted of several years in sales in the millwork industry. Prior to his retirement in 2025 he had been employed at Brockway Smith Co. for 34 years.

John enjoyed spending summer vacations with family at Cape Cod and sailing at Sandy Beach Club in Middlebury, CT. A dog lover, he was never happier than when he had a west highland white terrier to raise. He enjoyed carpentry and amateur cooking. Always resourceful, his motto was never throw anything out because it could always be fixed or the parts used for something else.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, John is also survived by his sister, Mary Lillquist, and her husband, Kenneth, his brother, Frederic Ogden. and his wife, Judy, his sister, Caroline Boyd, and his brother, Elton Ogden and his wife, Jan. He is also survived by his

mother-in-law, Helen Lapman and her husband, David, and his sisters-in-law, Catherine Walsh and Norine Cardinal, in addition to several nephews, a niece and two greatnieces. He was everyone’s favorite Uncle Donny.
