Joseph A. Coppola, Jr., 81, of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 11, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Celeste (Famigletti) Coppola.

Joe was born in New Britain on October 6, 1944 to the late Joseph A. Coppola, Sr. and Theresa (Mazzaccaro) Coppola.

Joe worked as a crew chief for different grocery chains for many years. He lived a simple life centered around faith and family. He was a gentle man without a bad bone in his body and worked hard to support his family. He took care of everyone around him and enjoyed spending time at home. Everyone loved “Papa Joe” and he will be deeply missed.

Joe is survived by two sons, Brian Coppola and his wife Carissa of Southington and Jason Coppola and his wife Lara of Watertown and three grandchildren; Dominic Coppola and his fiancé, Bianca D’Amore, Brendan Coppola and Tessa Coppola. He is also survived by his sister, Joanne Musto of Southington and two nieces and one nephew and their families, Kimberly Kann, Toni Gozzo and Anthony J. Musto III. In addition to his wife Celeste, Joe was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Anthony “Butch” Musto.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the American Legion Kiltonic Post 72, 64 Main St., PO Box 217, Southington, CT 06489.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 3 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
