Judy A. (Lieb) Ames, 82, of Southington, CT passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 16, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Alden Ames for 62 blessed years.
Judy was born on October 27, 1943, to the late Paul and Elizabeth (Thomas) Lieb.
Judy was a licensed Massage Therapist and the owner and operator of The Natural Healthy Gourmet and Treasures from the Sea. She was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Southington. Judy viewed life the same way the guardian angel that sat in her window cast prismatic colors. She saw the beauty of every color and grew a yard and family to reflect that. She was a woman who reveled in the small pleasures of life: a finger licking after a family meal, the comfort of a cozy book, the soft scents of freshly brewed tea. Judy maintained the library at her local church for many years and could often be found enjoying any number of books in her free time. Much in the way she established a growing family she bound them together at mealtime with the imperative that we all link hands during prayer. Friend, Family or Framily. A proud member of the Thomas family clan, she ensured that her family did not forget its roots. After marrying Alden “Babe” Ames they moved to Southington, CT. In an old farmhouse she raised a family and even some of the neighborhood.
She lives on in the memory and hearts of her family.
In addition to her husband, Alden, Judy is survived by her children, Owen Ames of Plantsville, Renee Wescott and her husband, Dan of Pennsylvania, and Rachel Wardwell and her husband, Andy of Southington, CT, her grandchildren; Debi, Connor, Daniel, and Kaitlin. She is also survived by her sister, Janet Perrone of Florida. In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Vito Perrone.
Calling hours will be held from 5 – 6:30 p.m. with a funeral service at 6:30 on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 750 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike, Southington. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. For online condolences and directions, please visit www.plantsvillefuneralhome.com.
