Julia T. Sherman, 101, of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at HOCC at New Britain General. She had been the beloved wife of the late John A. Sherman for 49 years.

Julia was born on January 25, 1915 in Nanticoke, PA and had been a longtime Southington resident.

She was a longtime communicant at the Immaculate Conception Church in Southington and member of the Immaculata Women's Club and Holy Rosary Society. She was also active at the Calendar House.

Julia is survived by her daughter Barbara Sutherland and husband Larry of Plainville and one grandson, Justin Sutherland of Pawcatuck, CT. She was predeceased by her son Robert Sherman.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Julia's memory may be made to the Calendar House, 388 Pleasant St., Southington, CT 06489.

Julia's family would like to thank the first floor nurses at Southington Care and the staff at both HOCC at New Britain and Hartford Healthcare Independent Living for their excellent and compassionate care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Southington. Please meet directly at the church. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 from 4- 6 p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
