Kevin M. Tangney Sr.

Kevin M. Tangney Sr., 80, of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at MidState Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Sharon (Mount) Tangney for 53 years.

Born on January 23, 1936 in New Haven to the late Robert and Florence (Roche) Tangney, he had been a longtime Southington resident.

Kevin proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a staff engineer for SNET for over 35 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the AT&T Pioneers.

In addition to his wife Sharon, Kevin is survived by his son Kevin M. Tangney Jr. of Meriden and two daughters: Bethany Tangney Webster and her husband John of Killingworth and Lisa Tangney and her husband John Gargan of NYC; 7 grandchildren: Colleen and Connor Tangney; Bryn, Cade and Maeve Webster; Sean and Liam Gargan and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Robert and Daniel Tangney and two sisters, Rosemary Tangney Grigerek and Anne Cyr.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville with a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Mary Our Queen Church, 249 Savage St., Southington. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home.
