LeRoy “Roy” M. Herdman, 95, of Virginia Beach, VA, and formerly of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
Roy was born on May 3, 1931 in Kingston, NY to the late George and Harriet (Gurth) Herdman. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and worked as an electrician in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 35 for many years. He was longtime member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. Roy was ahead of his time with his knack for technology and loved playing on his computer. He was friendly, kind and had a great sense of humor.
Roy is survived by his son, Mark A. Herdman and wife Brenda and their children, Lindsey and David Herdman, all of Virginia Beach, VA, three grandchildren, Tracie Cyr (Jeffrey) of Southington, Scott Mumley (Jean) of South Windsor and Tiffany Hawkes (Gregory) of Plainville, three great-granddaughters, Brianna Lavenski (Frank Jr.) of Bristol, Ashley Mumley of South Windsor and MaryCatherine Mumley of South Windsor and two great-great grandchildren, Abigail and Frank III.
In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by first wife, Winifred Herdman, second wife, Doris “Dot” Herdman, his third wife, Rosemarie “Rosie” Herdman, his daughter, Patricia Mumley and her husband, Edward and one grandson, Craig Mumley.

Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon with a funeral service at 12 noon on Friday, June 26, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 750 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike, Southington. Burial with military honors will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
