Leroy Lane Libby III, 79, of the Plantsville section of Southington, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. He was born March 27, 1937 in Lincoln, ME to the late Rhoden and Dorothy (Westcott) Libby. There he met and married the love of his life and soul mate, Betty (Otwell). They would have been married for 62 years in January.

Leroy was a longtime member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Southington. He retired from CL&P and also worked as a machinist for many years. He loved cooking, baking, camping, gardening, wood working and being with family. His easygoing humor and kindness will be missed.

Besides his wife Betty, he is survived by his son, Jonathan Libby and his wife Arline (Sobel) of New York; son Timothy Libby of Plantsville and daughter Kathy Biela and husband Robert of Southington. He enjoyed spending time with his 4 grandchildren: Amy (Libby) Bower and husband Jeremy Bower, Jill Libby and Garrett and Kimberly Biela. He also leaves behind his 2 great grandchildren, Callen Bower and Gwen Laura Bower: his brother Michael Libby of Lincoln, ME; many nieces and nephews that he loved very much and his devoted cat Sammy. He was predeceased by his brother Eugene Libby, formerly of Maine.

In lieu of flowers, donation in Leroy's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington.
