Linda Woods

Linda Rice Woods, 82, of Murrells Inlet, SC, formerly of Southington, CT passed on June 27, 2026. Linda was born in Hartford, CT on February 4, 1944 to the late Oscar and Clarissa Rice. She grew up in Southington and as a child enjoyed vacationing on Lake Winnipesaukee where her parents owned a house and cabin that became the foundation of her lifelong love of camping.

 Linda married after high school, had three children, divorced and went to school to become an R.N. Working with children at Southington Pediatrics was one of the ways she stayed young. An accomplished ¼ mile drag racer, Linda was the 1970’s Woman Division Champion at Dover Downs Speedway. She went on to ride Harley Davidson’s with her late husband Bill Woods.

Linda is survived by her children, Scott and Heather Wilson of Torrington, CT, Deborah and Jeff Blaschke of Killingworth, CT, Lisa and Chris Schafer of Unionville, VA and a step- daughter, Cathy Woods of Goldsboro, NC. Linda also leaves behind granddaughters, Brittany and Jessica, grandsons, Chaz, Ryan, Trevor, Rick and Michael and her niece, April.

Calling hours will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
