Louis E. Kubena

Louis E. Kubena, 95, of Southington, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 10, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Esther (Butrie) Kubena for 72 blessed years.

Louis was born in Cokeburg, PA on December 6, 1928, one of nine children, to the late Robert and Angela (Minor) Kubena. 

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Lou worked as a lab technician at Uniroyal Chemical Company for 37 years. 

Lou had a strong faith and was a loyal parishioner at St. Thomas Church for many years. He was a true jack of all trades and a talented wood worker. 

In addition to his wife Esther, Lou is survived by 2 sons, Richard Kubena and wife Diana of Bristol and Mark Kubena and wife Vera of Washington, NJ, 3 grandsons, Richard Kubena Jr. and wife Emily, Robert Kubena and wife Stephanie and Thomas Kubena and 8 great-grandchildren, Lacie, John, Rosemary, Audrey, Sophia, Raelynn, Maren and Genevieve. Lou was predeceased by 8 siblings, Robert, Leon, Tony, Bohumil, Billy, Emond, Mary and Elizabeth. 

Lou’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the caregivers from HHC at Home Hospice Care and Trusted Angels Homecare, especially Rita, for their kindness and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on THURSDAY, October 17, 2024 at St. Dominic’s Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington. Calling hours will be held prior to the Mass from 9-10:30 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on FRIDAY, October 18, 2024 at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Ln., Middletown, CT.
