Lucille E. Spanos

Lucille E. Spanos, of Preston and formerly of Ledyard, CT, passed away on June 1, 2024 at the age of 96.  She was born in Wilkes Barre, PA, the daughter of the late J. Raymond and Pauline (Krueger) Gross.

Lucille attended local schools in Wilkes Barre, PA.   She was united in marriage to Theodore A. Spanos Sr., who predeceased her 4 days short of their 50^th wedding anniversary.

Lucille was devoted to her family.  She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Norwich and Angle Stone, Order of the Eastern Star in Foxboro, MA.

Lucille is survived by her two children, Carol Shafer and husband Chris of Plantsville, CT., and Ted Spanos Jr., and wife Katrina of Preston, CT.

She is also survived by six grandchildren; Eric Shafer of University Place, WA, Jennifer (Shafer) Perillo of Plantsville, Benjamin Shafer of Cheshire, Timothy Spanos of Preston, Holly (Spanos) Marrow of St. Augustine, FL, Erin Spanos of Preston and three great grandchildren; Cameron Shafer, Ella Perillo, and Alexander Perillo.  She was predeceased by three brothers; Raymond Gross, Elwood Gross, and Donald Gross.

A special thanks to her nurses, doctors and caregivers at Jerome Home, New Britain General Hospital and Hartford Healthcare Hospice.
