Margaret "Mona" Rose (Coviello) Burnop, 91, of Waterbury, passed peacefully into her Savior's arms on Monday, June 1, 2015 at the Summit of Plantsville. Born Dec. 18, 1923 in Waterbury, the eighth out of ten children, to the late Canio and Rosina (Colasanto) Coviello, she had been a lifelong Waterbury resident. Margaret studied voice and opera and sang with the Waterbury Opera. She will long be remembered as Mona, a nickname given to her by her favorite dance partner and brother, Joseph.

After graduating from Waterbury High School, she began a long work career starting at Naugatuck Rubber Company, then as a secretary, then at Quality Control at Sherwood Medical and finally as a bookkeeper at Howland Hughes.

Margaret is survived by her daughter Lori-Ann Gonzales and her husband William of Waterbury; son William Alan Burnop and his wife Susan of Rome, NY; her daughter-in-law, Delores Burnop of FL; six grandchildren, five great- grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, her sister Katherine Guerrera of Waterbury, brother Dominic Coviello of Prospect and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Kenneth Burnop, formerly of Naugatuck.

Margaret Rose accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was member of Apple Valley Worship Center in Southington. Margaret was a strong independent woman and a single mom who lovingly raised her three children. She will be sorely missed.

A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Apple Valley Worship Center, 594 W. Center St. Ext, Southington, CT 06489. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory may be made to Apple Valley Worship Center in Southington. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
