Mark Mongillo, 69, of Okeechobee, FL and former longtime Southington resident, passed away peacefully from lung cancer on Thursday, October 24, 2024, with his family by his side. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.
Mark was born on March 7, 1955, in Southington to the late Adolph and Crystal (Davenport) Mongillo. He attended Southington schools and graduated from Southington High School, Class of 1974.
Mark enjoyed playing pool, riding motorcycles, playing the guitar and singing. He was also a great cook, loved his cats and was a member of the Gang Scarpa Shoda Boys from the Hill.
Mark is survived by two children, daughter, Justine Drost and her husband Chuck and son, Jeremy Mongillo and wife Tonia, all of Southington, and eight cherished grandchildren, Christian, Aaliyah, Jacob, Lincoln, Gia, Colton, Ember and Genevieve. He is also survived by his wife, Melanie Mongillo, two sisters, Robin Bores and husband Robert of Southington and Lynn Bores and husband Richard of New Jersey and four nieces, Rachel, Jessica, Kelly and Jenna. In addition to his parents, Mark was predeceased by his brother, Vincent Mongillo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Please meet directly at church. Calling hours will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S.
