Martin Anthony Santulli Jr

Martin Anthony Santulli Jr., also known as Big Mirt, 57, of Avon, passed away peacefully at his home on September 19th, 2015.

He was born on January 9th, 1958, in Waterbury, CT to the late Martin A. Santulli Sr. and Dolores (Tata) Santulli.

January 9th was not only Big Mirt's birthday, but also the day he married the love of his life, Becca (Florian) Santulli. He would repeatedly remind us that his birthday would forever be celebrated as the day he married the woman with whom he would spend the rest of his life.

Along with being a husband, Marty's true passion and purpose was being the world's greatest father to his six children; Martin A. Santulli III, Nicole Santulli, Zakary Mayo and his wife Logan, Arielle Mayo, Olivia Mayo, and Samantha Mayo. Marty is survived by seven siblings and many nieces and nephews.

Marty always presented us with signs of what he truly wanted, which was for everyone he genuinely and deeply loved to live life on their terms. Although a private man, what mattered most was who he had beside him. It was the simple things that brought Marty joy: a new bow and arrow, pizzagaina, family dinner, and cooking together in the kitchen. Marty was a master of many trades, he was a tool maker and collector, restaurant owner, and entrepreneur. He was not only the owner of Nutmeg Home Care, LLC, but also cared for and helped those in need by taking them under his wings. He was a gentle, but extremely hard working man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone. He loved preparing for his favorite season, as he was an avid hunter. He embraced every opportunity he had to spend in the outdoors hunting with his son, Little Mart. Above all else, being a dad was where he found true fulfillment.
