Marygrace Tanner

Marygrace (Gadle) Tanner, 94, longtime resident of Orlando, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 14, 2023.  She had previously lived in Norwich, CT until she relocated to Key West and eventually to Orlando in 1971.

Marygrace was the daughter of the late Dr. Paul Francis Gadle and Minnie (Donovan) Gadle. She was born in Norwich, CT on February 3, 1929 and graduated from St. Patrick’s Cathedral School, Norwich Free Academy and Bay Path Junior College.

While a resident of Norwich, she was employed at the William W. Backus Hospital as a medical transcriptionist. She also worked part-time for the late Dr. H. Peter Schwarz. While residing in Orlando, Mrs. Tanner was employed by The Internal Medical Group.

Marygrace was a devoted Roman Catholic and a member of St. Jame’s Cathedral. She also attended the Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.

She is survived by her son, Francis Paul Tanner and wife Brittany, 2 grandchildren, Erin Lynn and Benjamin Paul William Tanner and her former daughter-in-law, Marcie Tanner, all of Georgia. She also had one brother, Paul Callahan Gadle, who predeceased her in 2015.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marygrace’s memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, 211 Broadway, Norwich, CT 06360 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, 211 Broadway, Norwich, CT with burial to immediately follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Norwich.
